All scout groups have similar roles that need to be fulfilled by adult volunteers. Details about these roles are given below along with a number of additional roles which are specific to our Group.

Assistant Section Leader

Group Chairman (Antony Hale)
Leads the Executive Committee and works closely with the Group Scout Leader. Read the full Group Chairman role description.
Group Secretary (Sarah Norville)
Supports the Chair of the Executive Committee to ensure the smooth functioning and sound administration of the Scout Group. Read the full Group Secretary role description.
Group Treasurer (Phil Stead)
Provides sound financial administration, support and information to the Executive Committee and Group. Read the full Group Treasurer role description.
Executive Committee (vacancies)
Committee members contribute to the running of the Group by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties. Read the full Executive Committee member role description and advice on becoming a committee member.
Grounds maintenance (Andrew Thirwell)
Maintain the scout HQ grounds including cutting the grass and trimming hedges and other vegetation.
Boat maintenance (vacant)
Check all boats regularly and report any issues, repairs or purchase requirements to the Executive Committee. Arrange any necessary repairs and replacements.
Vehicle maintenance (Matthew Gabbitas)
Check all vehicles regularly and report any issues, repairs or purchase requirements to the Executive Committee. Arrange any necessary repairs and replacements.
Driver Training (Andy Jennings)
Maintain a list of volunteer drivers, check licences, record restrictions and arrange training where required.
Maintain an inventory of Group equipment and record any equipment in and out. Ensure stores are kept tidy and report any issues, repairs or purchase requirements to the Executive Committee.
HQ Cleaner (coordinated by Ruth Buckley)
A rota of volunteers clean all internal areas of the scout HQ on a weekly basis.
Bookings Secretary [HQ, marquees & vehicles] (Michelle Tighe)
Respond to any booking enquiries and maintain bookings calendar. Inform marquee and vehicle coordinators of any relevant bookings and arrange to open and lock up the HQ for any one-off bookings.
Marquee organiser (Phil Stead)
Maintain a list of volunteers to help with putting up and taking down marquees and arrange appropriate support for any bookings.
Paper collections organiser (vacant)
Coordinate drivers and volunteers for each paper collection day. Print and arrange distribution of new dates each year.
Active Support Coordinator (Deborah Watson)
Communicate with Group parents and arrange support for Group events.
Website and social media communications (vacant)
Maintain the Group website and social media pages.
Grant applications (Phil Bodmer)
Research where grants may be available, contact relevant organisations to request grants and prepare and submit grant applications.
Fundraising team (coordinated by Lucy Hart)
Arrange clothes collections and organise other fundraising events.
