Sea Scouting’s highest honour

A surprise presentation took place this evening, 6th September 2016, to present GSL Peter Swann with ‘The Honourable Order of the Monkey’s Fist’ – a very special award unique to Sea Scouting which is held in high regard – in recognition of his service and commitment to Sea Scouts.
Peter becomes only the 66th person worldwide to receive this award which is only presented to Sea Scouting leaders or dedicated adults depicting their many years of arduous service and devotion within the Sea Scouting programme, working directly with the youth.

Peter was presented with the award by former York Sea Scout and long-time friend, Ron Bird, who travelled from New Zealand for the event.
We’re sure that once he’s had time to get over the shock, Peter will be looking much more pleased about it!
More details and photos from the event to follow.
