Have you ever wandered past our scout hut and wondered why there’s a large skip (that sometimes changes colour!) parked up in our car park? It’s been a feature of our site for many years and it’s where we store waste paper before it gets sent off for recycling which we then get paid for.

We know that our community values our long-established and thriving scout group that offers young people fun, challenge and adventure as well as developing their skills for life.  Providing this facility and all the equipment for our sea scouting activities is expensive but it’s important to us that the Group is accessible to all and subscriptions are kept at an affordable level. That leaves us with a lot of fundraising to do and the money we raise from collecting waste paper contributes substantially towards this. We now collect used clothing as well which can also be turned into funds for the Group.
