Waste paper collections

View dates on our calendar

We have been collecting waste paper in our neighbourhood and sending it away for recycling for many years. This raises a substantial part of the vital extra funds needed to ensure our scout group can keep running, providing an important facility for the children in our community.

You can help by bringing your newspapers and those of your friends, family and neighbours to the scout hut each week. If you would like to volunteer to be a drop-off point in your street/area, please contact us for more details.

We also run Saturday morning paper collections to pick up papers from certain streets in our local area. To volunteer to help with this, please click on the relevant date below and select the type of help you can offer. We need a driver and adult assistant for our collection van plus lots of additional help at the scout hut for unloading and stacking papers.

We can collect:

Newspapers, magazines (including glossy) and writing paper.

we can’t take:

Brown paper, cardboard, window envelopes, yellow pages, telephone directories, greeting cards.

Why do we collect?

We collect waste paper in the skip outside the scout hut to raise funds to support the activities of our Group. We can receive up to £1000 per full skip so it is a very important source of fundraising income, helping to keep subscriptions as low as possible.
